Disclosure Radio | War of the Worlds | Lux Radio Theatre Alien Invasion | Full Cast Vintage Drama
Welcome to Disclosure Radio, a Dark Entertainments series exploring classic alien contact, UFO panic, sci-fi horror and strange broadcasts from the golden age of audio. Before flying saucers, before UAP hearings, before modern talk of disclosure and non-human intelligence, there was one broadcast that made alien invasion feel terrifyingly immediate.
In Vol. 2, we present the 1955 Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of The War of the Worlds. This is not the infamous 1938 Orson Welles panic broadcast. This is a later, more polished, Hollywood-style radio version of H. G. Wells’ classic alien invasion story — a mid-century retelling shaped by cinema, atomic-age anxiety, Cold War unease and the enduring fear that something from beyond Earth may one day arrive. The 1938 broadcast asked: what if the news told us aliens had landed? The 1955 version asks: what if the nightmare never really ended?
